Dear Mr. Day,
My family
recently found ourselves in a very difficult situation. My father had been in
Lexington County Hospital suffering effects from throat cancer and radiation.
At 4:30 one Thursday afternoon, the hospital discharge person called to tell me
that my father had to be out the next day. She was very insistent that he leave
despite the fact that we had no hospital bed at home, nor anyone to care for
him 24/7. It also didn't help that the weekend was on the horizon. It was a
shock to us and we had to scramble to get things done. It was another setback
that seemed to plague us throughout his illness. There were 2 bright spots on
our journey, however. One bright spot was our contact with Day Break Adult Care
Services.
My brother, sister, and I lost our mother in February to
Alzheimer's. Dad's illness and needs were so different and we were doing the
best we could to care for him. When we realized that he needed continuous care,
we weren't sure where to go. Fortunately, Compassionate Care Hospice told us
about Day Break.
From the beginning, your staff was extremely helpful.
They were very accommodating, helpful, and moved quickly to have a sitter
available. They told me two sitters would be taking care of Dad and that they
thought we'd like both of them. I was a little skeptical, but I worried
needlessly. Katie Willingham came first. She was so attentive and helpful to
Dad. He told me after the first night that Katie was a light sleeper. He said
if just turned on his side, that he'd look up and she'd be there looking to
make sure he was ok. We immediately appreciated the concern that she had for
Dad and we knew he was in good hands.
When it was time for Katie to
leave, I felt some apprehension. Who would come next and how could they be as
good as Katie? Again, I needn't have worried. Rhonda Greer came and fit right
in without skipping a beat. We felt like we had known her for ages, but most
importantly - she took great care of Dad. She constantly made sure he was clean
and comfortable.
Unfortunately, we lost Dad on the 5th day that he was
home. I have feelings of loss, sorrow, and anger. However, I can honestly tell
you that our dealings with Day Break were positive during each step in the
process. Your company was helpful and your team was compassionate. Please
extend my family's gratitude to everyone involved with getting our account
opened and to Katie and Rhonda for their love and concern. My brother, sister,
and I appreciate the care that we received during a sad, stressful time in our
lives, but most of all - we appreciate the care that was given to Dad.

Page Mr. Day,
I am writing this letter to express my
appreciation to you and your staff for the wonderful care you have provided my
mother over the last year and a half. Life has been very difficult for her
since we lost our dad. Your caregivers have been sensitive to her special
needs. They are always on time and neat in appearance. They have not been
caregivers, but companions as well. On occasion, they have demonstrated their
thoughtfulness through a candy bar or box of chocolates. This has been a huge
source of comfort to Mom. Shari has always been professional and accommodating
with last minute changes. She is very careful to match up the client's needs
and personality with the caregivers. There has never been a time I couldn't
reach her almost immediately by phone, even on weekends. She is truly an asset
to DayBreak.
We look forward to our continued relationship with your
company.

Our family wants to thank you for
the Companion Services you provided Mother during the last year. The companions
you chose cared about her as a person, enabling her to stay in her home with
the freedom to stay independent which was so important to her.
I wanted
to acknowledge the extra time and expertise you provided in locating the right
companion that fit mother's personality. You identified her need to have a
"putterer" and found exactly the right person, but the issue is, you take a
personal interest in the specific personality and emotional needs of your
clients and go the extra mile to provide a compatible companion so a real bond
develops.
Over the last few years, due to the broken bones or falls, I
have used two other services, and neither has provided anywhere near the
quality of care that you do. Mother wasn't just a client to both agencies, but
you always treated her with such personal concern and respect in all your
interactions with her.
Our family appreciates the care and support you
provided, without which she would not have been able to live out her life as
she wanted to and would not have felt totally secure and safe.
Please
use this as a reference for other families as the highest endorsement of
services you provide and you may give them my telephone number if they wish to
talk with me.

PageDear Coker,
I am pleased to provide reference
information for DayBreak Adult Care Services. As you know, my mother has been a
client of DayBreak's since September, 2002 and currently still receives
services. As a family member living a long distance away from the Columbia area
where my mother resides, it has been reassuring to receive dependable and high
quality service from your agency.
The workers you have assigned to be
with my mother have always been honest, reliable, and caring. They have also
been very good in assisting my mother with her activities of daily living. I
have also appreciated your ability to match the workers personality
characteristics with my mother so that there have not needed to be changes in
the regular caregivers.
Besides providing good caregivers, both your
office staff and have always ensured that there have been no interruptions in
service, despite complications such as hospitalizations for my mother,
out-of-town visits from our family members, and unavoidable illnesses or
personal emergencies which might have arisen infrequently for the workers. I
have also always been able to reach your office staff or you at any time I have
needed to make contact.
Thank you for your assistance with my mother's
care. Again, I appreciate the opportunity to provide information about my
experience with your agency.

Nearly a year
ago, I was asked to help find 24-hour care for a dear friend. Your name was
given to me by a staff member at the office of my friend's doctor. An interview
with you convinced me that DayBreak Adult Care Services could handle our needs.
The months since have confirmed my original impression. You took great
care to see the right people were assigned to look after my friend. I hope that
these two conscientious and capable workers will be with her for as long as she
needs care. I feel that Ethel and B. J. take a personal interest in her well
being. They go beyond the basic framework of duties when necessary.
We
have found your employees to be punctual, dependable, knowledgeable and
pleasant. We have found your business practices to be honest and fair, with
billing easy to understand. In short, we have been pleased with the services of
DayBreak Adult Care and would recommend you and your company to anyone needing
in-home care.
